‘The Prodigal Son Returns’ is inspired by the parable of the fallen Son returning to the embrace of the forgiving Father. It is the title of the 1669 Rembrandt painting and the subject of the stained glass window in the National Art Schools Prisoners Chapel, where the performance was held. The Shibari rope restraint drawing performance ‘The Prodigal Son Returns’ was inspired by these works and showed roping restraint and final release, symbolising redemption and the victory against Shame. The model Deziree is a member of the trans community and has modelled for many of my portrait and performance pieces.
